In TV, anime, books, or whatever, what kind of personality do you like the protagonist to have? Do like him/her as an underdog? Does it matter to you if he/she is strong? Just curious. XD

I like underdogs that have room to grow, it is boring if they are the same. Allen walker from D-grayman is a good example i think, by the end he is nothing like what he was in the beginning without being godly.

I definitely enjoy a comical hero (No surprise there), one who's humble and kind of goofy, ya, Allen is a good example.

My absolute favorite leader is the spiritual leader. I relate to them most because I believe in having faith and being in tune with what you can feel but not see.

I'm an awful sucker for the boy scout types. Heroes like Spider-Man, Superman, The Green Lanterns. Heroes who have crazy power and yet are sensitive enough to be humbled by humans every once in a while. I like morals...
I prefer heroes in comics more than their manga and anime counterparts.

Wow, 3 girls, not a single "I LIKE SMEXY HEROES" comment. Hmm.
But after some thinking, probably one of my favorite heroes ever would be Yoh Asakura from Shaman King, laid back, humble, funny.
Favorite supporting hero? Wooden Sword Ryu from the same show, by far.
Those are my favorite Anime characters. As for comic style, I love me my spiderman.
Also, you guys should try checking out the runaways, probably my favorite marvel comic. Bout a bunch of kids whos parents are supervillians, they find out, run away, fight their parents among other evil doers. LOOOOOOOOOVE IT. Plus the sunlight alien is a lesbian, durr hurr hurr.

I like the calm disturbed heroes like Cain from Godchild, he actually grows from negative and distant to actually caring about what he has at the end

^ He got totally screwed over for Oscars, it was pretty funny. Anyway, I tend to like the laid-back, don't-really-give-a-crap-until-something-happens-that-affects-me heroes.

I've always enjoyed the "everyman" hero. That random guy who gets dragged into a situation so much bigger then him and ends up being the big hero.
I will say though that it takes a lot for me to like an anti-hero. It's too easy for them to just become incredibly generic and boring. They can still be badasses, and I'll admit that, but as a character they just end up boring a lot of the time.

Flawed heroes are always the best in my option. Through learning from their mistakes they become better people. I particularly like heroes looking for some form of redemption.

Call me emo, but I love the tragic hero for some reason. The one who tries to do the right thing, but ends up fucking something up completely and dies. I dunno, it's just really interesting.

I really like the idea of highly unconventional protagonists, IE a role usually fit for a villain is instead amde for the protagonist. For example, there was a game called Dr. Muto about a maniacal madman who blows up his own planet by accident and has to fix it up himself. There was also the game Overlord where you play... Sauron with little gremlin... Alright, I fancy particularly villainous/antiheroic protagonists. I tend to find the typical hero to be full of themselves with their speeches about justice and determination and all that to the point I almost feel sorry for the villains. This doesn't mean I despise heroes completely. A hero who can avoid hypocrisy (or at least gets called out for it) is somewhat less of a jerk in my eyes. I also don't like how you can tell a character is good because they're the bishonen prettyboys with giant swords while the villains are all bestial orcs or whatever (bishonen prettboys as villains can get annoying as well since fangirls will overlook any sign of "This Guy is BAD!" for "But he's so hawt!"). I also tend to favor the use of technology versus magic, so I guess I favor the idea of the Campbellian Hero (Not Bruce Campbell). Finally I like snarky characters (as some can probably see by my writing) or at least one with a sense of humor. This is another reason I've always liked Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. It portrays things from the villain's views and shows the hero as a brutish bullying jerk (something I tend to see Superman as). Favorite heroes? The Angry Marines: Genocide for the Fascist Empire without any guilt! Deadpool: I like anyone who has a sense of humor. The Light Warriors of 8-Bit Theater: The most incompetent saviors of the world, ranging from a maniacal Black Mage, a very dumb Fighter, a racist and manipulative Thief and a Red Mage who happens to be the biggest Munchkin that you'll ever meet. Dr. McNinja: 'Nuff said. Dr. Horrible: The Sympathetic Villain Zim: What? OK, I've gone overboard.
