After a few incidents, I just wanted to touch base with all the RPers and go over the basic rules here. Now, we all know that our original RP rule thread was erased by a former staff member who then refused to redo the list despite his mistake, classy. So anyway, I just have a few I want to touch upon that I've seen happening lately:
1) One sentence posts all the time.
2) Extensive use of God Mode
3) Read the posts and act accordingly to what is going on.
4) Aggressive/Over the top behavior
5) DBZing your character
6) The Omniscient Character
If you have any other RP pet peeves that you'd like to list, please feel free to do so without mentioning any names or attacking anyone.
1) One sentence posts all the time.
I know that sometimes you are tired, and all you've got to give is a quote in response, but this is unacceptable if you write this way 90% of the time. The acceptable post range is one paragraph, which can be defined as 3-5 sentences.
2) Extensive use of God Mode
DO NOT control ANY character that you have not created at any time in any RP without the consent of the Admins or the current head of the RP. Do not take liberties on this aspect to insert yourself into the plot, sway a battle to your tide or anything else that you desire to work in your favor. If you are caught once, your post will be edited with a warning. If you are caught twice, your post will once again be edited with a second warning. If you are caught thrice, your post will be deleted and a PM will be sent to you. If you are caught four times, your characters will be suspended from the RP for a given amount of time.
3) Read the posts and act accordingly to what is going on.
This is my largest pet peeve. You cannot be a great RPer if you're not willing to read everyone else's posts. You cannot even be a good or so-so RPer if you're not willing to read what is going on. Furthermore, any post you make will reflect how unaware of the situation you are. Running up to say to someone in the middle of what has been described as catastrophic fight is unacceptable. Running into someone's house to say hi when it has been established that the characters are in an enclosed residential area is unacceptable. Landing on a planet that has already been destroyed is unacceptable. I could go on and on here but let me wrap up by saying that posting whatever you feel like without understanding the situation is inconsiderate. It's also the easiest way to find yourself kicked from a RP on WWC. If and when (because it is fairly easy to spot those who do this) this is brought to our attention, you will be warned twice and then kicked out, no exceptions. Figure out how to read or ask somebody who is fairly detailed.
4) Aggressive/Over the top behavior
Just be careful with it and please respect other characters' boundaries.
5) DBZing your character
We've put stats there for a reason. It's no fun to start out with a character that can already kick everybody's ass. Learn some humility.
6) The Omniscient Character
Just because someone mentions in their post that their character thinks the sky is red does not mean that your character should say in response, "I know that you think the sky is red, so let me tell you why it's blue," This happens ALL the time and it is driving me INSANE. You are not privy to a character's inner thoughts unless you are psychic or God, and since Kalina is only the psychic and none of us are playing God then this shouldn't be happening, ever!
