My parents use to play video all the time, especially right after Dangerous came out. It was kind of their way of being like, "You young whipper snappers know nothing about Michael Jackson!" So, I feel inclined to pass it on. I watched it last night and I have to say, the Moonwalker mini movie is actually friggin' ridiculous!
I mean, safe for the awesome Smooth Criminal music video, basically Michael Jackson and three orphans spend their time running from Joe Petri who may or may not be a drug lord. Somewhere in the midst of this, Michael Jackson has a lucky star that he may or may not wish upon that seems to morph him into some sort of Delorian, a transformer AND a space ship. It made so much sense to me when I was a child, wtf? XD!!!
Things to look out for:
1) The children's version of Bad is fucking awesome. I don't get why that didn't make a larger impression on me as a child.
2) Leave me alone music video is riddled with symbolism. Shows his eccentric side but that he's still pretty brilliant.
3) Speed Demon XD XD WHAT THE HELL! (Michael Jackson runs away from claymation paparazzi, fans and angry actors. Somewhere in the midst of this he changes into a claymation bunny and has this crazy chase scene the duration of the music video. It ends with the real Michael Jackson and the Claymation Bunny having a dance off. Another thing that made sense to me when I was a child but now...not at all)
4) SMOOTH FUCKING CRIMINAL-It's my personal favorite Michael Jackson music video.
-Food for thought, have you ever been to a concert where there was a faint patrol? No!! Michael Jackson use to have a group that was solely employed to pick up all his fans that would become so emotionally overwhelmed that they'd faint.
Compilation of hits from Jackson 5
LITTLE KIDS BAD!!!
Speed Demon (Claymation Bunny)
Just leave me alone video and beginning of actual Moonwalker movie
Smooth Criminal starts around the end of this one
A must watch.

When I was younger I always listened to what my sister listened to because I felt it made me look cool to her friends and junk. Well anyways she was a MJ fan and unfortunately the only music MOVIES I remember faintly is Thriller and Smooth Criminal when she would show me. Since she was a dancer she would also dance along with it haha. Michael Jackson is the best performer to ever walk this earth, Freddy Mercury being number 2. These two men could just perform live for people. I really wish I could have seen him live once.
I was never a huge MJ fan for whatever reason but I still listened to him because my sister did....well my dad listened to him too. But what I do understand is how much he changed music. No one before him did what he did. I respect what he has done with the other greats. He was the first one to SUCCESSFULLY fuse pop and rock together to make this style of music. And like said earlier best performer of all time. Here is another legendary band talking about just how important MJ was to music:
Queen guitarist Brian May: "Hard to know what to say - what to feel. I find myself wondering what might have happened on his tour... the number of dates in the UK that he had committed to was insane... I did have a feeling it was impossible... but I was so shocked to hear that he went so suddenly. Very sad. Of course I still think of him as a boy... he used to come and see us [Queen] play when we were on tour in the States, and he and Freddie became close friends... close enough to record a couple of tracks together at Michael's house... tracks which have never seen the light of day. Michael was the boy star of the Jackson Five, and always the most screamed at. I remember in their show, they tried very hard to make all the brothers equal in the presentation, but it was abundantly obvious that all most of the girl fans really wanted to see was little Michael. It was Michael who heard our track "Another One Bites the Dust" when he came to see us on "The Game" tour... and told us we were mad if we didn't release it as a single. Of course this was way before Michael's monster solo career began... but he was already in search of that fusion between Funk and Rock, Black and White, and the Thriller album was the consummation of that quest. There are many similarities between it and our "Hot Space" album... but our timing was out, really. Michael got it right in every respect... including timing... the world was just ready for it... and of course he was in a sense seeking the same ground, but coming from the opposite direction.
"Amusingly, after Freddie and Michael has spent some time together recording, Freddie came back and played us the work in progress, and he remarked that Michael had come up with a great album title ... BAD. A little later, Freddie smiled his tubular little conspiratorial smile, and said... "I have a perfect idea for our album title - you may love it or hate it... but think about it... we can call it... wait for it... Good"!!!
"I think the world is a more colourful place thanks to Michael's work... he was a truly wonderful performer at his (peak-the highest point of a range or mountain vs. peek-to glance somewhere slyly. Think before you post!) - and had a great team around him, including, of course, genius Quincy Jones. I think he qualifies as a great artist; he devoted his whole body and soul to his art. It's as if, with all the changes he introduced to his body, his art actually became his body and his persona. Yes, I only hope he passed away in happiness, in great hopes and anticipation of his glorious comeback tour. RIP Michael."
Here's another amazing live performance by him. His feet were always moving. It was so natural for him.

Meep, you hit the nail on the head with some of my favorite MJ memories. "Leave Me Alone" is probably my favorite MJ music video, and it is very symbolic, if thinly veiled. I always loved the cracked out "Speed Demon" music video, and often felt like I was the only person who remembered it. The rabbit unzips itself?
And of course, Michael Jackson can become a car. And spaceship. That part is almost as ridiculous as a Lost storyline.

He's the biggest musical inspiration to me because he went from an 11 year old boy in a family band to holding the record for #1 selling album still to this day. It's amazing to me.

So I was watching a bunch of the specials today and I had forgotten how good of a voice and performer he truly was. So many great hits from the Jackson 5 including the MEGA hits such as I want you back, ABC, Rockin Robin and junk. Then spanning up to Smooth Criminal, Beat it, Thriller, Black or White, and my personal favorite Billie Jean. Of course most of these were his hits but like I said I never really got into him. I wish I just had an ounce of musical talent this man had.

I will always respect Michael Jackson for everything he contributed to both dance and music, he will be remembered hopefully for everything he has done and hopefully not for what the tabloids said about him.

Cracked out bunny disappears and then ends up having his face molded in the mountain like Mount Rushmore, lawl. Also, looking back with mature eyes, I unfortunately do see what may have caused some people to raise their eyebrows. The dynamic between Michael and orphan Katie definitely was a little uneasy. That part could definitely been rewritten for a woman of his age but I am a firm believer that MJ was not a sexual creature, not the way they tried to paint him to be. I think that when you get older, you do lose that sense of innocence and it's easier for us to equate things in a negative manner. I kind of feel that way about that Miley Cyrus cover.

(yea-affirmation as in "yay!" vs. yeah-confirmation as in "yes, that is correct". Think before you post!) I watched the specials on him Friday night and it was kind of awkward watching him for some of the stuff. Like he just seemed so childish in a sense. Like when he was feeding Blanket he looked so nervous and out of his comfort zone. This was possibly brought on by the physical and verbal abuse of his father when he was younger. I just honestly don't believe someone that innocent would do what he was accused of. I don't know, I never followed the trials so the evidence might have been against him or not. The only thing that is confusing to me is if I was a parent and my kid was truthfully molested I wouldn't settle on money, I'd want the dirt bag behind bars.
I went skim boarding yesterday and for all 8 hours the beach played Michael Jackson songs and it was kind of eye opening to me. This man really had great music and really had a vision of what he wanted. Like they showed an old interview with him and how he goes about making music and all right? And he says he just hears beats in his head and he'll start mimicking the sounds with his mouth (like beat boxing) and then he'll lay it down he says as the main rhythm and add to it.

Even despite his rep, Jackson is definitely one of the Lords of the Dance (next to Michael Flatley and Napoleon Dynamite) and his music is well-remembered for a good reason. His 80's stuff really was amazing.
May you proceed to make a collaboration with John Lennon, Tupac and Elvis within the Afterlife.
Also if you need anyone to advertise you, Billy Mays is coming up there (unfortunately).
