Were they fun? I've never done one and didn't know if it was pretty tubular or not.

Are you going to try to start one here or something?

It's just for every rp site 2 out of 3 of them seem to either be Harry Potter or Twilight ones so I didn't know if anyone here has done one and if they are fun. Everyone I click on seems to do the same basis though and I didn't know if it gets old.

I've thought about doing a Harry Potter RP so many times. I actually thought about it before we did NHA but they'll probably be way too similar plus it's kind of like the Twilight RP. There are soooooooooo many. But I have been interested quite a few times.

There are soooooooooo many. But I have been interested quite a few times. I think the main thing that interests me so much about them is the whole you know learning magic and doing crazy school stuff. It's a school where you talk to ghosts, where teachers are strange and you learn magic and can make crazy potions and turn people's hair purple and have weird food and 'out there' type events. Plus you can say crazy spells all the time haha. I just hate how every Harry Potter RP out there is either during Harry's parents days or like right after the ending of the last book.

So in essence you want to RP Harry Potter because of...Harry Potter, lol (not the character, the world). Anyway, a Harry Potter RP would and should be meticulous. But like I said, there are like hundreds of Harry Potter RP sites and I think IGN even has one. If we did end up trying one, it would have to be in the Fall, I think, and it's going to have to be detailed, no doubt about that.

I don't see this working too well. Do we really need two rps about school?
I loved the HP Book's but I just don't see them working as an rp.

I think that it would work, but that it would be too railed, if we did it during the actual Harry Potter events. It wouldn't be fun because you would know the ending so it wouldn't be suspenseful at all.
So it would have to be some time after, because of the aforementioned lack of suspense. Unless...we could make another school? Maybe somewhere else? That way, we don't have to worry about the lack of suspense.

I loved the HP Book's but I just don't see them working as an rp. Well the way I look at it is it's two different things. NHA is all about learning to like fit in with normal people and learn to control their powers so they can co-exist. Harry Potter is all about a world hidden from said normal people and interacting with one another. So it's a different aspect in essence and basically if you looked at everything the only similarities would be the school aspect and kids having powers. I honestly put no thought into a plot or anything and was really just curious if anyone did one or knew a good one to join. But if we were to do one it would have to be after the books (since isn't the setting basically our time period, so it's not like we could say doing it before Dumbeldore and all of them) or we could always do an alternative universe type deal. I don't know, again all I was curious about is if anyone did one so I didn't put any thought into this

I dunno, such a large focus of HP is on school.
And we see how much people like RP school in NHA.

I really don't think that a Harry Potter or a Twilight RP will appeal to our niche. Those seem too appeal to the teenaged semi-emo girls that make up the fanbase and I really don't wish for an RP version of "My Immortal" to exist here.
No offense to the fans of either (I enjoyed the Harry Potter series). I just doubt that it should work out here and the flux of new users may just bring in a wave of e-offal that we'd rather not have.

^^I actually agree with Vect. Tyler and I had this conversation yesterday. The majority of RPers in either theme are like 12, spazbuckets and obsessed with playing Hermoine or Bella. That's really why if any of us wanted to try this, we'd have to make our own, seriously, lol.

Twilight, lol
The only thing that truly amazes me about that series is how the author fucked up the entire mythology of vampires. If there was ever as series that I was pissed that actually became popular it’s twilight. At least with Harry Potter you have death, some pretty cool villains, an amazing supporting cast of chapters, and quite an epic story towards the end. All I got from Twilight was an emptily hollow feeling and the ending led me to believe one of the main characters was a pettily.
A Song of Fire and Ice RP would be cool, but I’m probably the only one on this board that reads that series.

I mean I heard the books were alright and all, I don't know. Just preference apparently. I also need to read the song of fire and ice books like you said. Well I'm going to re-read the series and if anyone is interested in trying an HP rp just pm me and we'll see what we could throw together.

I bought the Twilight Books and have absolutely no desire to follow through on reading them. I might just throw them out on my front doorstep so an unsuspecting preteen on her way home from the Academy can pick them up.

I know there's a lot of incest in it and political intrigue/backstabbing. (yea-affirmation as in "yay!" vs. yeah-confirmation as in "yes, that is correct". Think before you post!), there’s quite a bit of all of that. The best part of A Song of Ice and Fire is the entire story is separated into three epic size stories and told through the eyes of ten POV characters. These three stories are all going on at the same time so you get to experience just how big the world really is. The Seven Kingdoms and the eventual five sided war between five of the kingdoms strongest houses. This story in particular has the most back stabbing and the most gore. Most of the main characters are involved with as least one of the five warring houses. Then there’s the story of the Night’s Watch and there quest to protect the relm on top of The Wall, which as you probably guest is a giant wall. The Wall is made out of ice, stone and magic and it’s purpose is to protect the rest of the realm from the creatures of the hunted forest, Wildlings, Giants and The Others. Jon and Sam are the only POV involved in this story. The Third Story is Danny’s quest to regain control over the seven kingdoms which her family lost in a civil war 20 years prior to the main story. She lives across the sea in exile and therefore her quest has very little to do with the main plot, as of the end of book 4 anyway.

I really need to pick up the first book and start it. The length is just so daunting. I bought the Twilight Books and have absolutely no desire to follow through on reading them. I might just throw them out on my front doorstep so an unsuspecting preteen on her way home from the Academy can pick them up. I heard you'll either like them or hate them. And for the most part basically thirteen year old girls like them. Now this isn't a stab at anyone that might enjoy the books, heck my friend who is 18 loved the books and she said she didn't know why because she knows it wasn't written well compared to other books but she read all four books in like a week. Apparently they drag on a lot and don't really do much?

I’ve read up until the end of Book 3. I’m not so trilled into rushing into Book 4, since two of my favorite characters won’t be in it. The Author ended up making the 4th book so long he had to cut it in half, so only the POV characters in the South and on the iron islands are in it. Though seeing inside the cult of faceless men (a group of assassins that have the power to alter their appearance at will) should be very interesting.

And how "out there" in the sense of fantasy is it? I think you said there is some magic and the assassins ability to alter their appearance sounds intriguing. Any other cool out there abilities the characters have?

At first there were only going to be six books, but since the fourth novel had to be cut in half there will now be seven. With any luck the fifth will come out this fall.
This series is probably the most “realistic” fantasy series I’ve ever read. Even though magic does exist in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire it is never used as a means to escape danger or even to save the lives of any of the more important characters.
Major Spoilers.
In terms of fantasy elements are concerned Jon Snow and his brothers and sisters have dire Wolves for pets, Brian (Jon’s younger brother) has the ability to enter the mind of his wolf and other animals as well. Melisandre (who is not a POV) is a red witch with a strange Shadow Creature living inside her body. Danny has three dragons for pets, but they’re still infants and quite small. A group of outlaws called the Brotherhood Without Banners is led by a man called Beric who died in the first novel but his corpse was revived and now has the power to set his sword on fire with his will alone.
Most of the magic takes place in the haunted forest though. The Others are white inhuman creatures who are at war with the Night’s Watch and constantly trying to destroy The Wall; the only thing keeping them from reeking havoc on the rest of the world. If you are stabbed by one of the Other’s you get turned into a zombie creature called a Width and you’re body still decays, while you’re eyes remain bright blue.
